Environmental sustainability
OPEN Health aims for environmental sustainability in all its operations. That is, we seek to operate our business without damaging the environment.
A green business functions in the best interests of the local and global environment, meaning it supports the communities and economies that are dependent on a healthy planet.
2022 CDP Climate Change Questionnaire
OPEN Health responded to the 2022 Climate Disclosure Project (CDP) Climate Change Questionnaire. CDP is a widely used sustainability reporting framework to measure the environmental impact a company has. Having a baseline CDP score gives us the opportunity to adapt our operations and hold ourselves accountable for improving our score in the future.
2022 EcoVadis Sustainability Questionnaire
This is the second year that OPEN Health has received a sustainability score from EcoVadis. EcoVadis is a platform that provides expert sustainability ratings based on a comprehensive questionnaire that addresses a range of ESG issues. In 2022, OPEN Health received a 46/100, which indicates that we are at the beginning of our sustainability journey. Our goal is to achieve 65/100 or above within 5 years.
Committed to the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi)
The SBTi aims to help companies set emissions-reduction targets that are in line with the Paris Climate Agreement’s goals of keeping the global temperature rise below 1.5°C. In August 2022, OPEN Health submitted a commitment to develop near-term targets in line with limiting global climate change to below 1.5°C across all direct and indirect emissions channels, and a long-term net zero target to be reached by 2050.
OPEN Growth Forest
OPEN Health has partnered with Treedom to plant 500 trees each year to capture CO2 from the atmosphere, support local farmers, and feed communities. The OPEN Growth Forest will have a minimum of 1,000 trees in it by 2023. It is a true testament to what we seek for the future: for our forests to grow and flourish, just like our people!
Computer Equipment Recycling Program
We strive to support recycling initiatives at OPEN Health. In 2022, we donated 469 office devices to electronics recycling programs. By recycling equipment, we hope to reduce the amount of toxic elements, such as lead, mercury, and arsenic, entering the waste stream and save landfill space, conserve natural resources, and reduce the amount of electronic waste generated each year.
